Valerie St. John is an award-winning communicator with 15+ years' experience - as a marketer, as a public relations practitioner and as a journalist. After 10 years in commercial television - covering, among other beats, tech and business - she transitioned into marketing and communications for technology organizations. She began her career auspiciously at age eight with a second-hand recording device, "interviewing" neighborhood leaders about the day's news (very, very local news). In high school, she landed a position writing and hosting a weekly radio segment on NPR affiliate WAMU-FM while heading her school's computer club. And so began a path that has always somehow resided at the intersection of comms and tech. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), and the National Association of Black Journalists. She lives in Marin and has served on the board of the Bay Area Discovery Museum as a member of the non-profit's ever-active Marketing Committee.
